Brain surgery is technology intensive.

Brain surgery is technology intensive.

As you would probably already know, for the past 15 years, we have been performing these surgeries with almost missionary zeal to help these sufferers regain a normal life. These surgeries are technology-intensive and during the last five years, the equipment (especially the Microscope) has improved in leaps and bounds.

How is this ultra-modern Neurosurgical Microscope different?

A very modern Neurosurgical microscope has been designed for these Surgeries by companies like Leica and Zeiss.

It allows us to look with unmatched quality of illumination (400 Watts Xenon) in the very delicate crevices of the brain, where these surgeries need to be performed. The focus and magnification are also unparalleled, which translates into better surgical results and improved patient outcome.

Brain Cancer surgery

Being diagnosed with brain cancer can hit the patient and his/her family awfully hard not only psychologically, but also financially. Very often these patients are breadwinners of the family and some financial assistance goes a long way in supporting them in their moment of crisis. Using state-of -the art equipment even in financially unsound patients helps re-establish them to a great extent as earning members of the family and society.

What is MVD surgery?

MVD stands for MicroVascular Decompression; this surgery is performed to relieve the compression on the fifth and seventh Nerves arising from the brain, which can lead to Trigeminal Neuralgia (TN) or Hemifacial Spasm (HFS).

Trigeminal Neuralgia (TN) is called "suicide disease" because the pain is so severe, that people prefer to die than live. Hemifacial Spasms (HFS) is a very unusual facial disfiguration which pushes these unfortunate patients into depths of severe depression and social isolation.

Acquiring such a state-of-the-art microscope for this unique MVD surgery and Brain cancer project will benefit thousands of patients immensely.
If technology is acquired with such kind donations, the cost of the surgery can be kept in a range affordable to most patients. As you would probably know, so far, we have never sent any patient back due to lack of funds, at times accepting a personal pinch.

However, this microscope is beyond the financial ability of our MVD Centre. It can be acquired only through the kind donations of generous people like you.

On behalf of our patients, we will be eternally grateful to you.
